Cuttle Jewellery Casting
Experimenting with cuttlefish casting and lost-wax investment casting, this project was designed to push materials practice skills and to create a product based first and foremost upon form.
The project brief stated an artefact should be produced to help as a stress relief toy, therefore looking at texture and shape would be essential. From the first pewter cuttlefish cast the contours were so delicate and soft that by wearing them down slightly one could produce a stunning texture that is comfortable to hold.
Thus came about Cuttle, a brass stress-relief toy from the cast of a cuttlefish skeleton, that fits perfectly between finger and thumb.
